DOCTORAL PROGRAM IN PSYCHIATRIC NURSING

Psychiatric Nursing Doctorate Program started to provide education under the Directorate of Graduate Education Institute of Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University in the spring semester of the 2020-2021 academic year with the approval of the Presidency of the Council of Higher Education dated 04.12.2020 under the Department of Nursing.

In this program, the student Aims to master the national and international literature in mental health and psychiatric nursing, apply the literature information in line with the country's needs, and apply education and research to reach the qualities of productive, creative, questioning scientists.

Among the learning objectives of the program;

-To develop theoretical and professional knowledge in the field of psychiatric nursing by using critical thinking, problem-solving, and lifelong learning,

-To develop a new idea, method, design, and/or application that brings innovation to the field of specialization or to transfer a known idea, method, design, and/or application to a different field and to investigate the results,

-To fulfill the responsibility of producing qualified, scientific data and evidence specific to psychiatric nursing by working independently and/or as a team to plan, conduct, report, and publish research,

-Evaluate scientific papers, select and calculate statistically correct methods,

-To use information and care technologies effectively in psychiatric nursing activity areas,

-To be able to communicate and discuss orally, in writing, and visually by using a foreign language at an advanced level,

-To work in interdisciplinary cooperation with knowledge, skills, and professional responsibility specific to the field, to assume leadership in solving disciplinary and interdisciplinary problems,

-To respect human rights and dignity in the fields of psychiatric nursing, to act by professional values and ethical principles,

To provide nursing care for the individual, family, or community with a holistic and systematic approach using theoretical and evidence-based data in psychiatric nursing to evaluate and report the effect of the care provided.

Psychiatric Nursing Doctorate Program provides education with 2 Professors, 1 Associate Professor, and 2 Assistant Professors. The course is implemented in all public institutions and organizations, especially Dr. Cevdet Aykan Mental Health and Diseases Hospital and Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University Hospital, and is carried out by the instructors.

DOCTORAL PROGRAM IN PUBLIC HEALTH NURSING

Public Health Nursing Doctorate Program under the Department of Nursing, with the approval of the Presidency of the Council of Higher Education dated 31.05.2022, Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University Graduate Education Institute Directorate started to provide education in the spring semester of the 2022-2023 academic year.

In this program, the student aims to gain knowledge in public health nursing, transfer the knowledge gained to the field of application, and contribute to the field by conducting scientific research.

Among the teaching objectives of the program are taking the person as a whole with his / her environment, making students understand the awareness that individuals in the society have their health responsibility from pre-birth to death, making the physical, biological, social, cultural, cultural, economic, psychological and environmental factors that play a role in the formation of diseases positive and reducing or eliminating negative factors, protecting and improving the health of individuals without getting sick, identifying those who are sick at an early stage and helping them to receive diagnosis and treatment services, and creating a branch of service and a branch of science that teaches this philosophy. It covers interdisciplinary approaches to public health nursing, epidemiology, biostatistics, health management, and services. Environmental health, behavioral science, health economics, health policy, occupational health, maternal and child health, and epidemiology of communicable and non-communicable diseases are other important areas covered by public health. The Doctoral Program provides education with 1 Professor, 3 Associate Professors, and 3 Doctoral Faculty Members.

DOCTORAL PROGRAM IN CHILD HEALTH NURSING

The Doctorate Program in Child Health and Diseases Nursing started to provide education under the Department of Nursing within the Directorate of Graduate Education Institute of 

Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University in the spring semester of 2023-2024 academic year with the approval of the Presidency of the Council of Higher Education dated 2023.

This program aims to train the student as a doctor of science who is sensitive to child, family, and community issues, who can apply evidence-based nursing care philosophy, who can reflect nursing theories and models to practice, who can comment on scientific issues by examining them from a broad and critical perspective, who can transfer the findings of scientific research to nursing care for child health and the solution of health problems, and who has professional, ethical principles and values.

Program competencies include;

1. To know the developmental characteristics of childhood and to evaluate these characteristics of the child according to developmental theories

2. To be able to use holistic and family-centered approaches in child-related practices

3. To have sufficient knowledge about the field and to be able to use theoretical and professional knowledge by using critical thinking, problem-solving, and lifelong learning in the field of education research and practice

4. To be able to use information and maintenance technology in the field

5. To be able to discuss ethical issues related to the field

6. To be able to plan the care management of a child with health problems and to use and evaluate nursing theories

7. To be able to develop evidence-based practice guidelines by evaluating scientific evidence related to the field from an in-depth perspective

8. To be able to develop a new idea, method, design, and/or application that brings innovation to the field of specialization or to be able to transfer and analyze the existing idea, method, design, and/or application to a different field

9. To be able to conduct original research independently in his/her field

10. To be able to present and discuss the studies related to the field on international platforms with oral, written, and visual communication techniques

11. To specialize in an interdisciplinary or interdisciplinary study related to the field.

The Child Health and Diseases Nursing Doctorate Program educates one professor, two associate professors, and two assistant professors. The course is applied to all public institutions and organizations, especially the University Research and Application Hospital, in the presence of teaching staff.
